About Our Client:
Our client is a UK-based retailer specialising in trading card games (TCGs) and related merchandise. They stock major brands like Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Flesh & Blood, and more. They operate both online and via a physical store, run events, offer accessories, and have strong customer reviews for service and value.
Shop opening hours: 11am to 10pm Tuesday to Sunday, possibly Monday for filming) 11am to 7 on full days
The Responsibilities:
Digital Marketing & E-commerce
Plan, create, film, and edit short-form content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Plan, film, and edit long-form videos (e.g., 8–20 min YouTube content: set spotlights, deck techs, product walk-throughs, event recaps, interviews).
- Pre-production: write simple scripts/outlines, create shot lists, schedule shoots, prep sets/props.
- Production: operate basic camera, audio, and lighting; capture A-roll/B-roll in-store.
- Post-production in Adobe Creative Cloud:
- Premiere Pro for editing, audio sweetening, captions, versioning.
- After Effects for simple motion graphics, animated lower thirds, transitions.
- Photoshop for thumbnails, channel art, social cutdowns, and promo tiles.
- Create and publish short-form (TikTok, Reels, Shorts); cut highlights from long-form projects.
- Maintain a weekly content calendar aligned to product drops, promos, and events.
- Community management (comments/DMs) and basic analytics reporting (views, retention, CTR, follower growth).
- E-commerce merchandising on Shopify/eBay: listings, images, tags/collections, basic on-page SEO.
- Support email/news posts (“New In”, set releases, event reminders) using Shopify tools.
- Keep assets organised: file naming, project folders, backups.
Retail & Store Operations
- Customer service on the shop floor; friendly product advice for TCG players and parents.
- Operate POS/till; handle click-and-collect handovers.
- Maintain merchandising standards for sealed products and accessories; tidy, clean, and safe store environment.
- Pick, pack, and dispatch online orders (Royal Mail), ensuring secure packaging for cards.
- Assist with condition grading and sorting singles; use sleeves/toploaders to protect items.
- Carry out cycle counts and basic stock checks, flag discrepancies.
What They’re Looking For
- A genuine interest in trading card games (Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc.).
- Comfortable on TikTok/Instagram/YouTube and keen to experiment with content.
- Creative, organised, and proactive; able to work independently in a small team.
- Good written English and attention to detail.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths preferred.
The Apprenticeship
This role will be part of a level three Multi-Channel Marketer apprenticeship provided by The Marketing Trainer. The apprenticeship covers a wide range of topics over its 15-month duration, including:
- Campaign management;
- Content creation;
- Social Media marketing;
- Digital and traditional communications;
- Brand management;
- Communication skills;
- Project Management;
- And much, much more.
All training and support will be conducted remotely via small group training cohorts and one-to-one coaching sessions that ensure you receive individualised support along the entirety of the apprenticeship.
